Health Affairs Committee
The Health Affairs Committee reaches out to the local Asian-American Pacific Islander community through events such as free health screenings, health education and promotional materials, and more! It is also a great way for general members to get involved as volunteers as well as giving back to the community.

Health Screening

UA Pre-Health APAMSA, in collaboration with A.T. Still University (ATSU), hosted a Community Health Screening Event aimed at providing essential health services to underserved populations in Tucson. Held over two days, the event offered club members a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while giving back to the local community.
Volunteers assisted with a range of services, including health screenings and patient support, while also learning from healthcare professionals in a real-world setting.
We also analyzed the collected patient data to identify trends in patient and family history to get a better idea of the health issues that impact our community the most in order to effectively combat them.

UA Pre-Health APAMSA and COM-T APAMSA collaborated on October 4th, to host a community health screening for the Autumn Moon Festival. We were able to serve 20 patients, providing a variety of services including free consultations, resources about clinics, and health education to help break down different barriers to health care.
Shadowing
Keep in mind, these are just programs you can register to shadow with! However, if you're interested in shadowing a specific physician or medical specialist, you can take a more personalized approach by using the University of Arizona’s KMAP (Knowledge Map) platform.
KMAP allows you to search for faculty members based on their clinical specialties, research interests, or departmental affiliations. Once you find a physician who aligns with your interests, you can reach out directly via email to inquire about potential shadowing opportunities.
**you have to pay to be a member of ASAPA
